This week our kindergarteners are looking at clouds! We're using a projector to look at different shapes in the clouds and reading It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles Shaw, The Sky Dog by Brinton Turkle, and Dreams by Peter Speir.
I'm really excited about our first grade lessons for the next couple of weeks. We're going to be doing some research on the internet about frogs. I've heard of other librarians beginning research activities with first graders, but I haven't been brave enough to try before now. Be sure and ask them what they've learned about frogs!

How GREAT! I'm so glad yall are learning about frogs this week. We are covering frog life cycles throughout this week, so our lessons should go together great! :-) I can't wait to find out what they learn in library!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a wonderful idea to introduce research early to children. It is a great way to incorporate all the technology now available not only to teachers, but to the students!!
ReplyDeleteMy preschoolers really enjoyed the Spilt Milk story with props! Great job!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to tell you how glad I am that you started the research a couple weeks ago. This week in Reading, we introduced searching for terms online in order to find more information. Several of the kids "put it together" and made the connection with the research they've been doing about frogs. It was great to see them link what yall've learned in library to the new information. Thanks!!
